Think Clean. Think Pristine.

About Me

Think Clean. Think Pristine.

Is your home as tidy as you would like it to be? Most people answer "no" to that question. Maybe there are just a couple of rooms that have fallen into disarray since you've been overly busy, or perhaps your whole house could use a deep cleaning. You could take a week off from work and do this all yourself, but hiring a cleaning service is an excellent alternative. People have a lot of false assumptions about cleaning services, and hiring one is easier than you might think. Start reading the articles on this blog, and you will soon feel more comforted and reassured by the idea.

2 Things to Know About the Formal Process of Testing & Removing Mold in the Home

If you think that you have mold growing inside your home, you need to take care of that right away. Mold is dangerous for your health and is not something you should mess with or take lightly. If you think you have mold in your home, you need to hire a residential mold testing company to test your house. If they find mold in your home, you need to hire a professional mold removal company to get the mold out of your home.

#1: Mold Testing Takes Time

Professional mold testing takes time—usually takes a couple of hours. They will run an air quality test throughout your home to determine the number of mold spores in the air.

A professional mold inspector will use a variety of special tools and methods to test for mold in your home. For example, they will use hygrometers to determine where you have high levels of humidity in your home, and then carefully test those areas for mold. They may use a borescope to drill small holes around your home to test for mold in hidden areas. Borescopes are a great way to test for mold in suspect areas, such as behind a water-stained wall, without damaging your home.

You may be able to get some results at the end of the testing period, although it may take a few days for the inspector to run tests on all the samples they took from your home and provide you with the full results. They will let you know if you have mold in your home, where you have mold, what type of mold it is, the severity of the issue, and how the mold may impact the health of everyone in your home.

#2: Professional Mold Removal Is a Multi-Step Process

If you have extensive mold in your home, you will want a professional team to remove the mold and clean your home. This is a multi-step process. First, the team will identify any conditions that are leading to the growth of mold, such as water leaks, and fix that issue. You need to stop the conditions that lead to mold growth before the mold can be eradicated. Then the humidity levels will need to be controlled via dehumidifiers.

After that, they will set up a containment space around the primary mold locations to allow mold spores to be removed from the air via a suction process. Surfaces that can be cleaned will be cleaned, and porous surfaces will be removed and replaced. Then the space will be vacuumed with a special HEPA vacuum, cleaned with an anti-microbial product, and tested again to be sure it is clear. This is a very detailed process that may take multiple days to complete based on how serious and large the infestation is in your home.

Dealing with mold is not a quick process; it requires extensive testing to identify all the mold sources in your home, and then it requires a detailed removal process. The testing and removal process is worth it, though, as it will protect your health and save your home.
